First Chair

After dedicating years to technical projects, a strong desire emerged within me to open my focus towards furniture and non-technical objects. Initially, I believed that I could seamlessly apply the design philosophy I had acquired from working with sensors and machines – starting from the exterior and working inward, refining until only the essential remained. However, I soon realized that I was on the wrong trajectory.

In the realm of design for such objects, the process demanded much more contemplation of elements like space, narrative, and materials upfront, with simplification coming into play only if deemed necessary. The genesis of this chair's story can be traced back to my acquisition of the Shaper Origin hand CNC milling machine. My ambition was to craft a chair entirely hewn from a single wooden panel. Yet, at a certain juncture, my affection shifted more towards the remnants of that wooden panel than the chair itself.

These remnants and the chair still reside within my living space, serving as a poignant reminder of the modest yet profound origins that set me on this creative journey a few years ago.
